EMS – or Electro Muscle Stimulation – is one of the fastest-growing fitness trends in Europe and even across the pond in the United States. It's based on the scientific principle that electricity powers the human body and has been used for decades in rehabilitation, sports medicine, and pro-athletic sports.
In EMS training, a specially designed suit that's been fitted with carbon fibre electrodes is worn. These electrodes generate a low-level electrical impulse to your muscles… It's a bit like how the brain sends an electrical signal to the muscle, telling it to contract, but without the waiting time. This electrical impulse creates resistance for the muscle to work against, strengthening and toning as it does so.
This resistance allows EMS to offer an incredibly efficient and effective method for full-body fitness and wellbeing. It's a fast way to burn excess body fat, increase joint strength, build muscle, tone the body, and even aids in muscle recovery and rehabilitation.
Ems is suitable for people of all ages, genders, and fitness levels. No matter what your goals, EMS can help you achieve them.
Every Body Pulse EMS session starts the same way: with a glass of water or isotonic drink to ensure you're well-hydrated ahead of the workout. You will then change into our specially designed shorts and t-shirt. This outfit isn't a fashion statement. The workout clothes you'll be given are carefully designed to fit comfortably beneath the electrical suit and conduct electricity, aiding in the Electro Muscle Stimulation experience.
Next, you'll undertake an InBody™ scan to establish your starting fitness levels. This scan is repeated every 8 weeks to enable you and your fitness coach to monitor your progress, so you can actually see the results!
Once the InBody™ scan is complete, your personal trainer will wet the electrodes on the EMS suit and help you get strapped in. You'll talk about any areas of concern and your goals, then your trainer will connect you to our EMS machine.
You will work out with a maximum of one other person as your trainer leads you through a series of movements that have been uniquely tailored to help you achieve your fitness goals. There is no running, jumping, or bouncing that would strain the joints, tendons, or ligaments; each movement is focused on stretching and flexing movements.
Working against the electrical pulse is meant to feel tough and should involve your muscles working against the resistance caused by the pulse: A little like moving through water.
During the session, your Body Pulse trainer will continuously be assessing how you feel and how hard you're working. As you build strength, the trainer will increase the EMS to provide more resistance to work against, further building strength and toning the body.
The EMS workout sessions last 20 minutes each. At the end of the 20 minutes, your trainer will assist you with getting out of the suit, and you'll be able to change back into your everyday clothes. Once you're dressed, you'll be given a bespoke Body Pulse protein shake that's been tailored to your nutritional needs and health goals. As you enjoy your shake, you'll be chatting with your personal wellbeing expert about your progress and goals.
